Last Saturday I encouraged myself to go to watch TAHITI 80. I went there ALONE. This is the first time I went to concert ALONE! I asked my friends whether they are interested to see them in concert. But none of them was in to it. So heck, I decided to go alone. Their songs have been a good company of my times back in 2004. I started to like this band just the moment after I listened to the song “HEARBEAT”. I could easily fell for this band. Thus I would never any chance to pass the opportunity to see their performance alive.
I came to ANNEX BUILDING at 5 30.There I saw many teenagers or maybe early 20’es. I thought I would be late, it turned out I have to stand in the queue. Then when I came inside I forgot to hide (oops) my digital camera. So I have to let them deposited it and not only camera they took my cigarettes too. Whatta perfect! No companion, No cigarette, No camera. Voila I entered the upper room. The performance hasn’t started yet. I sat there and managed to make myself comfort by calling several friends. I was a bit bored waiting for the concert to commence. Eventually at 6 PM something, Hollycity Rollers commence the concert. Actually I don’t really know them, but the “music” not the vocalist was awesome. After 5 songs or more (can’t remember) SORE entered the stage. They played “LIHAT” MATA BERDEBU” NO FRUITS FOR TODAY and several new songs. Then again I have to wait for the next band that was PURE SATURDAY. It was more like my reminiscence of my college time back in 11 years a go. After rocking my feet and body, I felt the strong pain in my feet (due to the “old” bone). I stood for quite long for they have to do some preparation before the band on stage. Eventually at hmmm…(almost!!!) 8.30 PM TAHITI 80 emerged on stage. They commenced their performance with the song “Yellow butterfly”. I danced in to the rhythm of the songs while several teenagers were busy taking their picture using their digital camera with the background of the concert. I didn’t know how, but I felt that the concert was too cold – Not the temperature, but the ambiance. Something was wrong. I felt like the audiences were more like a mannequin rather than a human with the soul. They were frozen don’t know what made I just don’t give a damn to a pricey ticket I bought which cost me IDR 275.000. I just couldn’t stand anymore.
It’s not because I went there alone, that I felt the concert was way too cold. Maybe because I was expected the crowd to be an energetic crowd, that I ended up feeling exhausted. But one thing for sure, I still love the band, though. Xavier Boyer and friends were undeniable awesome. They looked humble.. I thank that I can witness their performance lively
When I headed to the parking lot, I was thinking. What would I have been doing back in college? I felt like young again. Yeah though I just hit the age of 30 this year, I still feel young at heart, heheheh… I didn’t feel to regret going to see the concert, though I have to force my old bones to stand for quite so long during the break, though it was quite difficult for me to see the band since many teenagers stood tall in front of me, though I can’t smoke (of course lah), though I could only taken a picture from my cell phone, and so and so….
But then a day after I got a text from a very close friend. Here’s the content “ Can you beat it…I am in Dragon Fly and TAHITI 80 is here performing”
What should I say to this?
